The thought of making Thanksgiving Dinner overwhelms me. I think we are going to skip it this year. Seriously. My guys don't get into Thanksgiving dinner... just tolerate it.
A few years ago we all got the tummy flu and we only had 1/2 of the dinner done on Thanksgiving before we all crashed in the tv room with fevers. We finally finished making and eating the meals a few days later. NO fun. We had more fun watching holiday tv shows and hanging out.
I am making an executive decision and we are canceling our usual big meal. Thankgiving isn't Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie... and I really shouldn't have pumpkin pie (too much sugar).
I am also seriously considering not decorating for Christmas as well. Normally I have to beg and plead for my guys to get the Christmas boxes from the crawl space... they moan and complain the entire time. Not a good time for any of us. The thought of decorating the rooms in my house is just overwhelming. I thought of just decorating one or two rooms.... Our fake Christmas tree broke last year (and I really didn't like it so I am glad).
I end up decorating our tree by myself and after 14 years of doing that... No thank you.
The last thing I need this time of year is to push myself and get fatigued--- No thank you.
My guys are not into the decorations and festivities. Since I am now diabetic, Christmas cookies will not be made from here on out. Instead I will enjoy reading about everyone else's baking fun on their blogs.
The past few years on Christmas Eve we have had a nice supper and open our presents. Christmas Day we watched holiday tv and ate a simple meal of soup. I think we will continue that tradition.
Maybe I will find the motivation or the holiday spirit.... whatever I am lacking. If it doesn't happen then my holiday decorations will stay packed away and I will enjoy the extreme simplicity.
Bah hum bug!
(Don't worry-- I have Christmas gifts almost all done). We are still doing presents this year.... luckily I made them ahead of time this past spring and summer. So glad I planned ahead in that department of the holidays
